EnGarde Speech and Debate club was formed in 2011. 

EnGarde is open to homeschooled students who are between the ages of 12 and 18 by September 1st of the competition year. We define a homeschooled student as one whose education is managed by his parent(s) or legal guardian(s) and which may include the use of tutors, video courses, internet courses, university-model programs, dual-credit classes, classes in cooperation with other homeschool students, and other creative methods that supplement home education.
 

All members of EnGarde are required to affiliate with the NCFCA and compete in a minimum of two in-person regional qualifier NCFCA tournaments during the current competition year. To affiliate with NCFCA, a competing family must affirm the league’s foundational beliefs and policies, as described on the NCFCA website.
